Help on printing with colorfabb XT
Hello,
I have chosen colorfabb XT to print a wormwheel + gear considering it has better stats than ABS according to their own words: https://colorfabb.com/materials/co-polyesters
After several attempts I got a perfect print of a wormwheel.
These are my adjustment settings on Slic3r PE:
Temp 245 / 70
Layer height: 0.2mm
Speed 50%
No Fan
very slow on the first layer (like 10-20% speed) , high speed at non printing movements (200mm/s).
This print has 3 perimeter layers and grid infill. No supports needed.
Ok so my second print would be the matching worm gear and here the have some problems.
With the same settings as I printed the wormwheel, I get problems with supportlines.
As already visible on the first layer, these support layers tend to bend upwards on the corners.
So i tried tinkering with many settings, but after many many attempts, I got a fairly succesful print, which still is 'burned' on 2 edges of the gear teeth.
If anyone has experience with colorfabb XT on Prusa mk3 printerand recognises whats happening here, I am very grateful for your help.

Re: Help on printing with colorfabb XT
The right side of the first layer appears good to me:
Halfway you can see its bending more and more. (A)
and the gear teeth at the front and back side of the print get a bit deformed (see B) + the lower side ot the axle.
The top side of the print is good again
Re: Help on printing with colorfabb XT
The topside geometry is very well and fits the wormwheel perfectly.
It looks a bit coarse because I changed the flow rate halfway during printing to 50%
On this side view image you can see that the side which was supported is bend and teeth are flat
