GCode is just making a mess

I have a simple hollow square tube to print about 100mm long - it came as a SLI file so I  did an import into Prusa slicer 2.4.2 (I'm fighting another battle to get a 64 bit computer to work!!) where the 3D platter showed the item as I expected,  So Sliced - G Coded - and transferred the file to the machine - started the print which over four repeats of the above sequence insisted on doing a totally different and smaller outline, and then went over the outline, catching that and detaching it from the plate.

Any ideas?  Rob

Hi Joan - when you say 'project file' do you mean the original SLI file or the gcode one?  My apologies for asking a simple question but I have to admit to being a reletive newbie!!  Rob

Neither of those. Go to Prusaslicer's File menu and choose Save as. This will save your STL *and* all your settings as a 3mf file. Now--and that's important because the forum software doesn't accept 3mf files--you have to zip compress it. Simply right click on the file and choose compress. Then reply here and use the Attach file button just below the edit window to upload the .3mf.zip file.

Thanks Fuchsa - fighting battles on two front at the moment as I am trying to set up a new PC as well.  I'll see how I get on doing as you say but it may be an hour or so - supper also has to come somewhere!! Rob

I did a reply last night butt obviously for some reason it didn't through.  I found the problem.

I had forgotten that I could load a sli file by import, and used an app "Spin Converter" to change the sli file to 3ma.  That somehow screwed the gcode.  I went back to the original sli file - imported it - sliced - gcode and that now works fine!!  thanks for your help. Rob
