First layer ends curl
Hey Experts,
I am having major issues with my first layer.
I have printed a large 100x100 test square and thought i dialed in my live-z to -0.380.
But when i start a normal print, the ends of the first layer lines go bananas. I tweaked the live Z-Adjust up and down, but nothing seems to help.
I changed the first layer speed down to 25mm/s
I'm printing Prusa PETG at 250C
Multiplier at 1
Can anyone tell me what i need to do?
Re: First layer ends curl
-0.380 seems to be too high Z level.
Test with -0,450 or more. Your first layer should be tight without slits and the surface should be glossy, not matt.

the best prep for your bed is to wash it with warm water and dawn dish soap (in the UK use Fairy liquid) by using a wad of clean kitchen paper towel dampen with warm water and put a dollop of Dawn on the pad and scrub (i do it twice at 90 deg to each other holding the plate by the edge as it is a phonograph record rinse under running water and dry with clean paper towel keep touching only by the edge... I do this every other day of printing with both kinds of plate.
then set your live z with this method https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting-f62/life-adjust-z-my-way-t2981.html it is far better than the zig zag method in the firmware
Re: First layer ends curl
I do clean my beds properly by washing with mild dish soap and after that with IPA.
The bed is not glossy because i use Magigoo as bed adhesion.
I did print the 75x75 before and it looked best at -380 but as soon as i start firing up normal prints -380 seems to high.
I will print mroe 75x75 en change the setting half way. sound like a good idea.
I did ending up getting better results after using a brim instead of a raft and slowing the first layer down to 25mm/s

Can you show us a photo of your 75x75 first layer?
