first layer adhesion
Hi,
I am new to 3d printing and i have just purchased a MK3S kit which i have assembled and is working very well.
I can print PLA in the centre of the printing plate without issue. My problem comes when printing ABS or PLA across the entire bed.
When i print over the entire bed (up to 6mm from each edge) the left hand side of the bed does not stick. All other areas are ok.
I have checked the bed levelling and first layer calibration and everything is set correctly. I have cleaned the bed with IPA and acetone.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

the best prep for your bed is to wash it with warm water and dawn dish soap (in the UK use Fairy liquid) by using a wad of clean kitchen paper towel dampen with warm water and put a dollop of Dawn on the pad and scrub (i do it twice at 90 deg to each other holding the plate by the edge as it is a phonograph record rinse under running water and dry with clean paper towel keep touching only by the edge... I do this every other day of printing with both kinds of plate.

Finger prints are PLA's worst enemy. Handle the bed by the edges... any finger print on the surface will spread over time and add to your woes. Hot water and soap are the best way to remove prints. And when using alcohol as a rinse, always wash your hands first to get any oil off, otherwise the alcohol will take the oil and redisperse it to the bed you are trying to clean.

you also may have a slightly unlevel bed...
Follow the two suggestions above and in the life Z thread there are first layer calibration tests with 9 squares across the bed, print one and see if the left side squares do not lay down a good first layer, then you can use bed level correction to adjust or try the github bed level procedures. Tthe bed level correction is not hard and will adjust for minor differences in level across the bed.
