Filament change tuning

Hi team, i have an MK3 and trying to tune a bit the extrusion after filament change (no MMU).
i noticed that, after inserting the new filament, the MK3 asks for confirmation of successful load and then moves to restart the print.
immediately after the filament change confirmation with the knob , while the extruder is moving, i see that the MK3 extrudes 2-3 cm of filament that can waste the print. i have had cases where this 2-cm filament extruded attached to the print object improperly.

is there any tuning i can apply to void this behaviour ?

thanks a lot
stefano

Re: Filament change tuning

short answer, after an M600 filament change, there is no way to stop the extra dribble

but there is a way to deal with it

when the filament comes out,
RESIST THE TEMPTATION TO PULL THE WASTE OFF... Instead...

GRIP THE WASTE WITH YOUR LONG NOSE PLIERS AND HOLD IT TO THE BUILD PLATE... then
press the button to confirm that the colour is clear, and the printer will give the extra squirt, and move back to printing, leaving ALL of the waste attached to the pliers...

regards Joan

off hand. I would say just use something to hook it by hand. I think I would use a needle nose and grab the "pile" but hold it until the head went back to print. if you get what I mean.

and if you think about it.. you are there anyhow.. I have done allot of manual MMU stuff. (never do over 100. you will go insane while doing it 😀

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

Re: Filament change tuning

i never did find out how to deal with "the blobs" youll get doing mmu manually. maybe you can add a wipe object.

but its not the extra dribble that's screwing it up. its the last of purge block. (maybe they turned it on with manual)

Re: Filament change tuning

i do not miss manual mmu.

p.s. joan seems i have to make my basic purge block bigger. even with the purge block to equalize pressure. some "fine" filament changes get the blobs.. just abit.

you know. i remember going thru a hell of a filament change, just to have it put 1 fricken dot...…. (memories)

don't forget if you have allot of filament changes. the extruder motor gets abit warm.
