extrusion width
hi pls help me what is minimum extrusion width? We have printer at work so i cant test what works and what not. We have 0.4mm nozzle and layer height is 0.15 thank u
RE: extrusion width
Technically 0.4 mm is the minimum for a 0.4 mm nozzle; but reducing flow can give a less than perfect smaller width. e.g., 0.35 mm is used for supports.
Anything less than 0.4 mm on the part and you are probably asking for adhesion and delam problems since asking for a 0.2 mm width from a 0.4 mm nozzle you can't guarantee where in that 0.4 mm range the 0.2 mm extrusion will land. Ideally it would be center of nozzle, but there are too many factors than can move where the extrusion ends up. Much less how wide the effective contact patch will be.
RE: extrusion width
ok thank u

Thanks - I had the same question regarding printing 'detailed' objects.
I understand how tweaking the layer height impacts the print, but all of the references for tweaking the extrusion width were about making it WIDER (i.e. squishing more filament out) - not narrower/less. I guess if I want a more detailed print in both the vertical & horizontal plane, then I need a smaller nozzle.
Your comment on adhesion issues + the example of supports makes empirical sense as well - those break away from the print surface & object fairly easily compared to the object lines which are wider than the nozzle.
Cheers
RE: Flow rate
Hello.
I'm using prusaslicer for my 3D syringe printer and I love it, but I have a problem with my flow rate (amount of Extruded material ).
How can I have a less material flow without down sizing my printing speed?
I know the printing speed and extrusion speed are related together.
