Dot and splat!
Exciting title, I know!
I'm trying to write some text. The colors are not important, but in this example I have black text on white background, so it's easier to see.
Every time I change color, the printer does the exact same two "mistakes".
First, there's a dot. There's always a tiny dot at the edge of the background. It's where the nozzle homes to when done changing color. I've tried removing the "test filament" when changing colors in several different places without any change. There's always this dot!
Second, the first letter written, no matter which one it is, always gets a splat!
I figured using a wipe tower would fix both issues, but I can't figure out how to activate wipe towers on a non-MMU printer.
Is there any way to manually add a wipe tower (and somehow make it highest priority so the printer always start a layer on it)?
Any other suggestions for what I could do to get rid of one or both of these issues?
The dot is a minor issue, since I am already at the machine when I change colors, I easily brush it away so it doesn't stick.. but it's still one extra thing I need to remember to do every time.

Maybe you could change the layer at which you change the color. Would it be a problem to make the first layer of the text white too. That way you should get rid of the dot as extruder will return to the last point before the color change and that will now be a place that will be covered by black anyway.
Maybe a draft shield could help too. (in the skirt and brim settings) That way the black will first add a layer on the draft shield before starting at the text.

I tried this. It eliminated the splat, but the dot is still there 🤣

I'm using the color change feature in PrusaSlicer when making the gcode.

You can get rid of it by modifying the gcode. After the commande M600 there is a value set to high (I believe) for the extruder. If I remember well E4.0000 F2100...
In you're case you need to decrease the E value.

Wow this looks like Stewartr's bread and butter! He's a big fan of writing entire letters using the full bed size. He might have some tips on really crisp text.
