Difficulties Printing Minitures
I've been having a blast with my new MK3. After about 2 weeks of printing out files from the included SD card and random pieces from Thingiverse without much faults, I've decided to start experimenting with DND miniatures. I've bought multiple STL models from Heroforge to use in my group's DND campaigns knowing my new Prusa would be up to the task.
I have the printer using Prusa Silver PLA and Hatchbox Bronze PLA, set to 0.05mm layers, temperature 205 C, printing at 50% speed. Results so far have been disappointing. Printing them standing upright has not worked out due to the printer printing tough supports onto the base and "blob-y" overhangs. I have read that printing them at an angle would help with the finer details, so I printed the attached pictures at 45 degree (Silver) and 30 degree (Bronze) tilts. This has resulted in the face and cloth details to be quite nice and the support removal to be considerably easier. Unfortunately, I have a new problem: The figure base is not flat! Either the base has some missing features and/or the plastic is curling upwards from the bottom.
I'm really not sure how to remedy this, especially when the 50um Frog print came out spectacular. I can only think to switch Slicing programs (Slic3r, Ideamaker, Simplify3D$$??), or get a 0.25mm nozzle? Any suggestions on how to print these better?
