connect inner structures

Hello All

As a new project, I am trying to print an RC aircraft. In doing so, I came to the following problem. It involves a wing and a round profile present in the wing. The settings call for 0% infill and no top or bottom layer. This frees up a round profile structure present in the wing. In Cura, you can see that this round profile is connected to the wing. But as soon as I remove bottom and top layer, the connection to the wing is also lost. Here are some images.

In short. How can I keep the connection between wing and round profile? Can I solve this with the slicer and how do I do it?

Thanks in advance.

RE: connect inner structures

can you please add a copy of a project file, that has been saved as a .3mf file, and then zip compressed.

then we can play with it, rather than guessing

Sure,

This is a part of the wing where I have this problem.

RE: connect inner structures

Hi Derwi,
the designer has used microslits in the design, to force a slicer to create selective perimeters

Prusa slicer has a setting that helps the printer to use defective files, by filling in tiny gaps...

these features clash with each other...
SO, Prusa slicer was automatically closing the gaps that the designer wanted to be open...

hence next to no support for the tube and a terribly weak wing structure.

there is a setting in Prusa slicer which might help... (If I am understanding the issue correctly. ) called 'Slice Gap Closing Radius'
It's an 'EXPERT MODE' option the default value  is 0.049mm, to my understanding this causes prusa slicer to close the micro slits in this model...

In the enclosed .3mf file I reduced this value to 0.0245mm and retained the slits (I was hoping to find a value that closed the slits on the surface of the mosel, but allowed them in the core...
however setting the value to 0.025 seemed to start removing sections of microslit.

the section below, is from near the bottom of the wing section. where you can see that you now have braces on the tube, and the beginnings of Riblets...
these Riblets are printed at 45 degrees to negate the need for supports.

Below you can see the micro slits in the lower surface of the wing.

I hope this helps,
regards Joan

That is brilliant. I just did it with other wing parts and it's working.

Thank you so much.
