Color variation in print
Just started printing in PETG, I got the layer height set and printed out a couple things. The dust filter I printed came out looking good, solid black. I also printed this scraper, but there is some color variation where parts of the part are almost gray in color. Wondering if this is just something to do with the model or a setting I can fix. I am using the built in Prusament PETG profile (since I am using Prusament). Ignore the flash and shininess, its kinda hard to take a picture of the issue due to reflection of the flash. Would like to make sure this doesn't happen when I print the Lack Enclosure mounts, the lines that turn gray are the same direction and height as the black ones.

I don't know if the information I'm going to provide will be the answer to your problem, as I predominantly print prototypes and I'm shooting for dimensional accuracy & strength more so then outward appearance. however I have noticed that the amount of time the filament spends in the hot end and heat the filament is exposed to in the hot end effects the appearance of the filament in many cases. be it PLA ,PETG, ABS or TPU a slower extrusion in one area of the model can have a different sheen or off color from an area that prints faster, where the filament has less time to heat up or cool. this In my experience can change the color of certain filaments or the amount of sheen. My first move to try and correct this would be to attempt to make sure that the print speed was as constant as possible.

Thanks Dan, I will keep that in mind as I tinker =)

The one thing I have noticed with PETg in general, including black, is that it appears to have more sheen than PLA or ABS (or PC Blend) and does reflect more light.
Overall, I've noticed that some brands definitely use more pigment than others. Hatchbox definitely uses a liberal dose of pigment, and the blacks tend to be true black and the whites tend to be true opaque white, or as much as you can get it. The Hatchbox black PETg I have is a true solid black with no gray undertones.
Solutech, on the other hand, does not use as much pigment and their white is more of a translucent white.

I'm just curious, as it didn't dawn on me that you said you printed a scraper until just now, but would that be for scraping Ice?

No its a scraper for the pei sheet for hard to loosen prints , looks like an ice scraper though, and don't have to worry about scratching the sheet.

Fair enough, I was going to warn your about how easily PETG shatters, running it into Ice would do the trick.
