can slic3r-pr config settings be recovered from a gCode file?

I just finished a 20 hour print in Orange PETG that amazed me for how free of artifacts (bar the tiny wisp of angel hair as it ended the print )it was during the whole print. aside from the fact that it used 240c amd 90c for the whole print

I don't have a clue as to how it did it

this is from week 5 of the Prusa weekly print series
https://www.prusa3d.com/weeklyprints/ and here is the gcode file for the clamp

the clamp is used in the add pages for Prusament PETG at the Prusa store page

Try loading the gcode file as a config or config bundle.

this might depend upon which slicer created the gcode

Scroll to the bottom of the gcode file. All the settings are there.

Re: can slic3r-pr config settings be recovered from a gCode file?

I was able to import the settings using Slic3rPE 1.42.0alpha by doing File->Import->Import config and opening the gcode file. As expected from a Prusa project, it is Slic3rPE generated:

; generated by Slic3r Prusa Edition 1.41.1+win64 on 2018-12-03 at 12:51:29

At quick glance, it seems to be using most bog-standard Prusa profiles:

  • Print Settings: 0.15mm OPTIMAL MK3

  • Filament: Prusa PET
  • However, the printer settings might be a bit different. I'm still examining it to see what's different. The retraction settings look standard.

Thanks guys I was going by what the maker of the filament SunLu said

    PETG Recommend Temperature: Extrusion/Nozzle Temperature 190°C - 220°C (356°F - 410°F),

when I had been printing their PETG before And I was not getting anything like as good results... seeing this thing print with just the one single wisp hair where it retracted off of the ball tip at the end of 20 hours I thought there would be more to it than just printing at the right temperature. Perhaps it is just a design very well optimised for 3D printing?
thanks for telling me how to dig this info out of a gCode file

I've found the SUNLU PETG prints fine at 240 Deg C and mostly stock prusa Slic3r pe settings, I just found I have to reduce the first layer fractionaly and adjust z offset 0.025 for a good first layer with no elephants foot. This works for most prints, but i need to play a bit for a small intricate part with some thin walls I tried to print today. First attempt printed, but could be better, just may need to rotate the part on the bed so the cooling is better for the thin section.

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.
