Bridges not anchoring on unsupported overhanging perimeter segment

I'm pretty sure I've been having this problem since either 2.7.2 or 2.7.3 came out.  Bridges are not properly anchoring to unsupported overhanging perimeters as shown:

I'm only supporting the corners of the overhanging perimeters as this is the minimum requirement to support structures like these.  As you can see, the bridged infill has no problem anchoring to where the supports are located as well as the external perimeter of the rectangular structure to the right.

I've increased the infill/perimeter overlap to 20% and still not anchoring.  Before 2.7.2 or 2.7.3 I was able to make it work for the default 10% setting and never had to touch this setting before that.  I don't want to make the overlap too high or else it makes the interior infill more visible when printing objects.  Any ideas for how to fix this?  I wish I could set the overlap for only the bridge infill/perimeter like in superslicer.
