You can always use extra parts.  It is often better to save them and start fresh.

Wanted to give an update on this problem/solution. Prusa support replaced hotend assembly that came with the original kit. I installed it, recalibrated everything, and it's been printing great for several hundred hours. It seems that the new assembly came properly tightened. No more blobs forming. Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I still learned a lot from the tips that came in!
