Best steel sheet for PETG?

Both my printers came with the smooth sheet and was wondering since I have to order a second what is the best for PETG?  I know I can use a glue stick for the sheet I have for now but it would be nice to have a sheet that doesn't require it.

Textured and satin from Prusa.  I am also happy with Ultistik from filamentone.

No glue, no snot, let it cool briefly, PETG just falls off.

Just never forget soap and water!

In my not so humble opinion, the satin sheet is the best sheet, not just for PETG. The satin sheets have handled everything I've thrown at them with ease, PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PC, TPU, etc. (you'll need glue stick with PC though, as a separating agent).

Of course, "best" is in the eye of the beholder. I call it best because all materials stick well and come off easily. However, if you want the look of the Prusa parts, you'll need a more heavily structured sheet. Or if you want no texture, the smooth sheet is the way to go.

If to only get one sheet, I would agree Satin is the way to go.

But, if the OP has two printers, and expects to move into new materials and lots of printing, a variety of sheets may be helpful.

For TPU (Filamatrix), I favor the Ultistik.  I'm cranking out some serious volumes of PETG prints right now on the Prusa textured.  No complaints.  I also think the textured is more durable.  Might be just in my mind, but my Satin is starting to get fussy.

If you move on from PLA, just about anything is better than the smooth steel, by a huge margin.

I vote PETG for satin. I regularly switch back and forth between it and the smooth sheet (PETG/PLA). Super easy to do once you set up and save the two sheet profiles on the printer.

Satin sheet+1

I don’t know about PC blend but the polycarbonate carbon fibre just falls off when the sheet is cold. I have limited printing with PETG but if work perfected on stain.

Satin or textured for PETG.

I like the textured finish of the bottom layer when using the textured sheet; so it sometimes depends on what surface will be most prominent in my decision which sheet to use. Certain models can also benefit from the ‘grainy’ textured finish, even if those surfaces aren’t directly visible.

For some reason the textured sheet is like Teflon to PLA so I avoid that use case entirely. The satin sheet is friendlier to PLA by far.

Cheers

I have yet to try the satin, but I've had excellent luck on the Prusa using PETg on both the textured and smooth build plates.

I do like the textured surface.  I've been trying for over a year to find a true drop-in similar textured build plate for my other printer, Ultimaker S5.  There are some which come close, but they either require cutting with a metal shop shear or do not cover the full build surface.

I found the BCZAMD Gold sheet to be a great alternative to the Prusa textured sheet. A bit coarser but unlike the Prusa sheet I never had any issues with it, with any material. @jsw, I don't know if they make them sized for the Ultimaker but you can check on Amazon to see if they do.

I have all 3 (smooth, texture, and satin) and satin would be my suggestion as well.  It's been good for all of my uses so far (PLA, PETG, ABS)

Thanks, I just looked on Amazon and they don't appear to have the Gold in that size.  There is a similar one which comes in two closer sizes, as in slightly too large and slightly too small.  😉
