Artefacts on prints - Horizontal lines
Hello,
I don't really have a clue on how to solve this. I am printing a rather big model (40 hours print), and after 8 hours of printing, I noticed a nasty line on one of the parts. I don't think it's layer shifting, as the line is only present on one of the pieces and not all of them.
I am considering stopping the print and restarting, but wouldn't want to get the same problem again.
What do you think is the cause?
Cheers
Luca
RE: Artefacts on prints - Horizontal lines
That's common when you have layers that print faster than other layers above or below. It's less common with other slicers, Prusa Slicer over on githib has bug reports, and pretty sure the devs know about it.
Slow down perimeter print speeds; enable Thin Wall detection; set the slowdown for small layer cooling option so it doesn't trigger as soon. The idea is to print all layer perimeters at the same print speed.
Look up the thread with "buldge" [sic] in the title. A long read, but has some detailed answers.

Hi @tim-m30,
Thanks for the tip. It's a very interesting discussion.
If I summarise everything it's a problem with PrusSlicer, that can be mitigated by using the parameters:
gapfill = on, thin walls = on, overlapping perimeters =off
It's precisely my problem as the "bulge" is appearing because of a change in thickness on the opposite side. If I draw quickly the section of the part, the artefact is appearing at the level of the arrow.
