ABS Overhang Problems
So I been trying to print this part in ABS with a large overhang. Now I know its a large overhang so I am printing with supports and the supports print and appear to support the whole overhang. The problem is no matter what I do it always looks like rubbish on the underside.
So far I have tried auto-cooling on the ABS parts; custom settings with lower fan speeds and higher fan speeds and even no cooling; support distance as close as I can from .2mm to .05mm away from the supported area. I even did a 0mm support just to see if that worked at all but that result was so bad it was pointless. I even tried slowing down printing on that area to about 10mms and 20mms to see if that would help and it always seems to result the same.
I am stumped now. No idea what to try next.
Re: ABS Overhang Problems
I don‘t think there‘s any way without dual extruder or MMU and soluble support to get a good print quality on such an overhang.
If it‘s your own design, try to split into 2 parts printed separately, with some locking shapes. With ABS you can then weld them together with acetone.
