3dxTech Low Gloss PETG help

I'm attempting to print this ring. It's about 5mm high. With regular PTFE it is totally flat, but with the low gloss 3dxTech stuff I get this concave shape.

I've been printing at between 265 and 280C, on a 70C bed (I even tried room temp). With fan on. With fan off. It doesn't seem to matter what combination I use, I always get this concave shape.

I think it might be the material shrinking, so I tried upping the infill percentage. That did nothing.

The bottom (at the top of the pic) has the worst curve to it.

Ideas?

Hi Derek,

You say PTFE, but I think you mean PETG.

your temperatures for the filament seem higher than average and your bed temperature seems lower than average.

This is likely to lead to shrinking and warping, which I believe is your issue
see the section on warping in the link below!

Yes, you're right. I keep getting the names mixed up in my head.

3dxTech has confirmed to me that the printing temps should be 260 to 280, and bed temps about 60 to 80.

"Recommended Print Conditions:

Extruder Temp: Ideally 260 to 280°C. Low-gloss PETG is a different blend than standard PETG. You may need to increase nozzle temps by 20°C or higher than standard PETG settings if you have layer bonding issues.
Platform Temp: 60 - 80°C
Platform Prep: Clean glass w/ Kapton Tape, PVA-based glue, or hairspray"

I guess I can try for the low end on the nozzle, and the high end on the bed.

I'm also printing on painters tape, because this stuff seems to stick to the plate like crazy. I'm using the FrogTape which seems to handle the higher temperatures just fine.

Re: 3dxTech Low Gloss PETG help

I use this filament in 3 different colors, and black is the most difficult. I print it at 265, and works well for me....the bed adhesion can be incredible if the PEI is too clean- ripping the printed piece apart upon removing. (I run 50 first layer, 60 after that)
I print this filament a bit slower also, it helps with adhesion

Thanks for the response. Are you printing with the fan on? A guy from 3DXTech said he prints that material with the fan off.

It really depends on the print design and size. Normally it just runs with the auto fan, but not always on.
