.25mm

I have printed many models successfully with the larger diameter nozzle.   The smaller one is failing on the second layer only.   The first layer works fine.   I seams to put some pressure on bottom piece up rooting it.    I am printing with an MkS3 and I am thinking it might be a z calibration issue.

Yo do need to recalibrate Live-Z after nozzle swaps.

Bed cleanliness is also important; as the second layer pulling up the first layer is quite common when oils are contaminating the bed, as in this photo:

I am far from an expert (so anyone can correct me if I am wrong) but it also seems that heat from the nozzle is more of an issue with thinner layers and thinner extruded elements (I think that you need to be printing .10 or thinner layers with .25mm nozzle). I bought some silicone socks to help with this.

@tim-m30

I concur.  My top two as the list above are Live Z and dirty bed.  I think I have it perfect and most fails are due to one of these.

The problem I am seeing now is the PLA is too stringy.   Prusa said I needed to do a 7 x 7 bed leveling.   I don't know what that is.

You can enable 7x7 bed leveling in the printer settings menu. This helps with 1st layer issues.

Filament can get more stringy if it's saturated with moisture. This is usually less of a problem with PLA, but it can happen. A quick test is to try another spool. You can read up on drying filament. Inexpensive food dehydrators can be used for this purpose.

@bobstro

I am pretty sure this is not a PLA cause it did print fine when I used a .4 mm extruder.   I am sorry I looked through settings there is no 7x7 bed leveling option.   Is there another name for it.
