Z Calibration failing

hi all! Haven’t used my mk3s in about a year. I downloaded the new firmware, and it’s failing on the z calibration step with the steel sheet on:

Calibration failed! Check the axes and run again.

Everything appears to be in good condition, including belts, leadscrews, rods. PINDA sensor is activating properly. In fact, the error happens when the pinda sensor activates.

I’ve tried multiple firmwares. Same problem. Any ideas? I’m running out of options.

Not used for a year?

The three common reasons for 'sudden' failure after a printer has been unused for a while:

General neglect, dust and cobwebs... Basic cleaning, lubrication and general maintenance have all been missed. See:

A dirty print bed. Give it a really thorough clean and avoid touching the print area.

Damp filament. Look up threads here about drying filament especially if it has been left open.

Cheerio,

RE: Z Calibration failing

Thank you for the advice! I had already done all of this cleaning and lubrication beforehand. Checked again, and also checked all axes with steppers disabled to see if there aid any issues with movement. Everything to spec.

any other ideas? It’s literally just the z calibration that errors. And without any indication otherwise that anything is wrong.
