Z axis lost shows value and ? ex: 5.5?
After updating the firmware to the most recent 9-22-2021 I have been getting this issue. After I make and motion with the knob, after a print, after some moving the LCD display will show everything normally except the z axis. It shows the value and a "?" When this happens the printer will not print but it will heat up and stay that way which is very dangerous. I have to manually do an "Auto Home" and it will find itself again. I have calibrated Z and everything works fine otherwise. This only started on one of my MK3s printers after the update. There has been no damage or moving around or anything like that, the printer has been in one place unaffected. I know I can work around this by changing the gcode to first auto home but it should not be doing this in the first place.
What steps can I take to resolve this issue.
Re-flash it.
Try flashing it again.
Yes, I did re-flash
So from what I can tell this is happening if:
- Cancel print
- Hard reset
I think this is happening under other circumstances but haven't found them yet. I have re-flashed each machine with no change. I do not remember having to re-home z after any of these occurrences. I would also assume that the printer would loose x,y but it's only z. I have to home z to fix it. While this seems like it is a small issue, if I do not home z, then send a print to the machine it will just heat up and sit there until it times out(i think) or I go cancel the print and re-home z
Never seen it - you might want to contact support.
Sounds frustrating. It's a software issue most surely - there may be a known cause, or sequence for fixing it. Go to the e-shop, log in with the account you bought your printers with, and wait for the little "chat" to show up. That's how to contact prusa support.
