Yet another Y-axis crash thread

Hello,

I am aware of the number of posts on this topic, but mine seems slightly different to what I have seen here so far.

Kit built MK3, only about a week old. Passed calibration ok, no issues. X and Y axis move smoothly with hand movement and "gravity" test. 265-260 on belt tension readout (problem seems to persist even when I had the belt slightly overtightened and looser -I tried to play around to see if things change).

Ambient temperature seems to stay around 40-45degrees. No enclosure. Plenty space around the printer. Printing plain old PLA.

So far it seems similar to a lot of other people's problem, but my issue is that I consistently get a y axis crash detected in very specific areas XYZ-wise. 2 areas. VERY specific XY, but only starts above certain Z (somewhere around the 0.5 mark but haven't nailed it down yet). It crashes and restarts once, occasionally twice in a row, then works fine until it gets back to the same spot at the next layer. The areas around the "crash zones" get a little hairy due to the start/stops there.

Had this problem from the get go.

Positioning models away from the affected areas is an obvious workaround that seems to work fine, but not ideal, because it pretty much takes out a quarter of the print area out of the equation!

Ideas?
