Y axis reproducible crash
My MK3S crashes on Y-axis mid-print without any reason (it looks like).
Here is video (model is 20x20mm cube):
Just after the crash it moves Y to home to realign I guess. It is 100% reproducible in about the same time after beginning of the print. It happens with all other models too but in different time.
The printer was operating perfectly for a few months. It was assembled by myself (kit variant).
I'm using Prusament PETG, 0.15mm layer, standard settings in prusa-slicer 2.3.0. I tried Cura and S3D - the same problem.
I did the factory reset and re-calibration a couple of times, different versions of firmware. I tried to turn-off filament sensor, and different modes of operation (normal/stealth). I also tried to reduce speed of the print, played with retraction settings, etc. Nothing helped so far 🙂
P.I.N.D.A sensor is about 2mm higher than the nozzle in my setup.
Belts look fine, rods are clean (I applied Prusa grease on them). Bed moves smooth, extruder too.
Not sure what else I could check. Any ideas?
RE: Y axis reproducible crash
If you have ruled out warping off the bed, I'd start with belt tensions. Print out the belt tension gauge. Then move to grub screws and pulleys on the Y and X. If your head is banging into the print, it could be due to orientation loss from slipping a cog.
RE: Y axis reproducible crash
It looks like a software (or PCB?) issue. I just recorded another video and it stops printing and moves Y to home at exactly same place without any visible reason. It does not seem like a crash at all. It just decided to realign Y moving it to home. Returing back to print causes crash, but this is different problem.
