y-axis movement erratic

I've noticed that when I have crash detection enabled, my printer frequently detects a y-axis crash. The printer is not close to any objects, and prints great as long as crash detection is disabled.

Belt status says X 259, Y 269

When the printer was off, I tried moving the bed back and forth manually while watching carefully to verify nothing was hitting a cable, no debris present and that the movement was smooth.

When moving the bed manually, it moves smoothly and easily for a few centimeters, then is difficult to move for about a similar distance, then moves easily again. It appears to be alternating between easy and difficult to move for most of the length of the Y-axis.

I think this sudden difficulty of movement is what is causing the y-axis crash detection.

I'm also thinking that the problem would either be due to uneven y-axis rods, or bad linear bearings.

Anyone have ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem?

Anyone have ideas on how to resolve this problem?

Re: y-axis movement erratic

Detach the belt and tilt the printer, bed should move freely with just raising the front of printer by 5-8 cm. If it moves easily without belt, I'd try loosening the belt. Those belt status numbers are quite misleading I've noticed.
