RE: Y-Axis fake(?) Crash detections - let's debug

I had exactly the same symptoms as Gordon - reproducible crashes printing a simple circular model between 10mm & 15mm Z. Rebuilt Y-axis & greased the bearings, a small improvement in belt-text numbers but no change in Y-axis crashes. Prints were fine except for occasional zits from the nozzle moving to home & back during a crash. I printed a belt tension meter and its measurements showed the belt tensions to be fine. On the advice of Prusa support I swapped the X & Y motors and the problem went away. In my case I have simply made the swap permanent and so far, so good. Prusa have said that if I now get phantom X-axis crashes then they will send me a new stepper. I guess this is down to small differences in steppers & drivers such that sometimes a stepper/driver pairing is out of spec, but switching motors solves the issue.

RE: Y-Axis fake(?) Crash detections - let's debug

Hi, I had the same issues like the other guys. Some y-crashes seemingly without any reason...until my wife found that from time to time the y-bearings slightly touch the zipties that attach the ribbon cable (display) to the extrusions.

I sketched and printed 2 suitable clips and everything is fine now. I will publish the clips later today on printables.com
