XYZ calibration failed, after several months of use.

Hi

After I updated to the newest version 3.5.1 I've had some problems with the MK3 MMU 🙁

Suddenly I can't calibrate the XY axis (in the XYZ test), just happened yesterday 21.Jan 2019
I didn't adjust any screws, break or move the printer, it just.. stopped working.
And It's random, sometimes it's on test nr. 1 and sometimes 2 or 3 (does never reach 4)

I tested the PINDA probe with a spatula, and it does change from 0-1 when I get up close.
I've done the Reset Calibration thing, and that didn't help.
I moved the pinda probe just a bit lower than the extruder (like 1mm lower) and that didn't change anything.

Here's a video of the XYZ test failing, 42 seconds long.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/frwafjfcuqjvmot/XYZ%20calibration%20fault.mp4?dl=0

And here's the position of the PINDA in Auto Home

Any ideas ? 🙄

Re: XYZ calibration failed, after several months of use.

I can imagine three things that could could change and cause this after months of uneventful use.

1. PINDA holder loose at extruder body end shifting the probe position.

2. Intermittent break in PINDA cabling. I can't tell from video whether its red LED is flashing on/off during the movements. I know it tested ok in a static position with spatula, but does it work (flash on/off) while moving around during calibration?

3. Repeated print plate removal has shifted y-rods. Sighting down from above vertical printer frame, do the x-rods align near perfect with the printed x-lines on heat bed? If not, readjust y-rods to correct xy skew.

guy.k2

1. I checked the PINDA holder and it's not loose.

2. Here's a video of the PINDA light showing it blink when over the circle.

3. The X rod is 99.9% aligned with the x-lines of the headbed. I wouldn't think that is the reason this is happening tho

Would love some more suggestions from anyone

Just to let everyone know, it was a faulty PINDA probe.

I replaced it and everything works 100% 😀

Great you got it solved.

For a solid state device, I'm surprised to see how frequently someone has one fail.

Would be interesting if someone knows which component fails. Is this a soldering issue, ESD, cable failure, etc.
