X axis scratches only on bottom rod

Hello!

I've had my printer about 2 months and also noticed scratching on the x axis rods, only the bottom one around 50mm long.

I packed the bearings with grease after cleaning in iso, rotated the roads to be on a smooth side but would It be best to get new rods/bearings?
(I bought new from a local place so unsure if warranty is transferrable)
The teardown and grease up was an attempt to quieten it down a bit as I've done the Y with the newer bearing holders and clips which has helped a tonne but the x still is by far the loudest even in stealth mode.

Are the LM8UU the best bearings or is there a more silent one?

Printer was a kit, self test was perfect and all belts not too tight, printer is sitting on a paving slab to reduce vibrations but still loud compared to my old ender that had a silent board (tmc 2209 drivers)

Sounds like it could be a bad bearing, I would run it slowly with the printer off see if you can feel anything rough.

I gather the bearings are aligned correctly inside the holders so they are at 45 degrees to each other as this is to maximise bearing surface area and reduce wear?

Tank you very much!

@clarmrrsn

I spoke to prusa support earlier and they stated the same as you, the bearing sounds to be bad.

I checked the alignment was at 45 degree to reduce wear and tear, I can't feel much when it's just being pushed back and forth but I can hear the bearing sounding like it's catching.

I'll contact local place I got printer from about warranty regarding if it would be covered

Thank you got your reply and confirming everything, puts my mind as rest that I didn't do anything majorly wrong with it.

Hey there, i'm having scratched rods also. I tried to rotate them but i feel i may break the lateral (orange) PETG part, while building the printer i felt a slight crack while inserting the rods...

Any suggestions in how to approach the rotation?

Thank you so much!
