X-axis movement more resistant in one direction!

I have owned my Prusa mk3 i3 for about a month now. I ran the calibration wizard when I noticed the print quality quickly drop after I had disassembled the extruder to fix a really bad filament jam. The error I got (x-axis length failure, if I remember correctly) from the calibration wizard implied, according to other forum posts, that some wires were not tucked in properly. This was the case with my printer. As I am disassembling and reassembling the extruder to pull the cables tight, I notice that when moving the carriage to the left, there is occasionally a grinding sound and it consistently moves very slowly with much resistance. This problem, however, does not affect the carriage when moving to the right. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this?

Try lubricating your smooth rods and then move the axis to distribute the lubrication... see if this cures your problem,
