X and Y crashes, bearing noise

Hello! I am having some new issues of my X and Y axis crashing halfway through a long print. I noticed it was making a weird squeaking while printing every now and then. After my print failed 7 hours in because it kept trying to calibrate the z and couldn’t. Kept banging into the side and would start in the middle of bed so I had no choice but to stop it. I slide my x axis back and forth and it felt like it had abnormal tension so I took off the bed and slid the rods manually through the bearing and on the side with one bearing. It sounds like this. Video attached. Prusa MK3s stock no upgrades. About a month old. Latest firmware 2.1. Took my time on assembly and I’m not new to assembling machines. Not saying I’m a master by any means but I definitely took my time and did assembly right. I’m assuming this is bearing that wasn’t greased enough. Do you think this was causing my crashes? Do you think this is normal a month after having printer and running for maybe 4 hours a day average? Thank you

Even with the shipping oil they use in the bearings, one month is a pretty quick failure.

More likely one of your bearing mounts is too tight and is crushing the bearing.

If it was on the Y axis, it would be one of the U-Bolts of Death.

On the X axis loosen the screws on the back of the extruder a half turn or so - and see if it improves. Put some light oil on the rail for a test.

While you are in there - lubricate your bearings properly.

@robert-rmm200

Thanks for the advice, I packed the bearings properly with supplied grease. Checked that my tension on the u bolts was just enough to keep them into place. “Got nylon nuts to surface of carriage with u bolt still wiggly and snugged nuts half a turn, u bolts are snug enough not to move just barely.” I believe that should be correct torque on those guys. Definitely 20 times better that I repacked the bearing but the one on the side by itself it still doesn’t feel as smooth as the other side. I am under the impression that 1 of my 3 bearings may have been damaged pre assembly or it’s possible I over tightened u bolt “anything is possible, but based off how I installed I really don’t see how I could've damaged it.”  Is there anything I can print to hold the bearings in better possibly?

@robert-rmm200

Thanks I will print these and hopefully I can get a new bearing easily from Prusa. Then i'll and install and report back! I am doing the same print that failed twice after packing bearings and backing off half turn on extruder. It seems so far so good. Its a long print so we shall see. Thanks for your help!

Marek at Prusa is sending me two new rods and 8 new bearings no questions asked. Once I have then I will install with printed bearing supports and update.

when you get the new rods and bearings. please take the time to lube them before assembly.
