RE: WTF is wrong with my extruder??

Not to be a Schaub, but how, exactly do I "check" the bearings? The "drive" gear is simply an extention of the extruder motor shaft, which, upon "palpation", has no noticeable "slop" or binding. The idling gear, mounted in the idler door, likewise displays no slop or binding. It appears this gear is a "drop-in" during a pause in the printing process as it is not removable. Also, not sure but I will look, I  think the time/distance of the extrude/no extruder cycling is not synchronous with the gears' rpm.

As mentioned above, support could not help.

To check the drive side mark the end of the driveshaft (sharpie) where it pokes through the face of the extruder and note the position when extrusion begins to fail - repeat a few times and see if it correlates.

For the idler - remove the door with the idler in place and turn it with your thumb whilst applying pressure; if at any point it is not smooth or if it rises and falls in place then the bearings are suspect.

Also if the interlocking gear teeth (not the filament grippers) are worn or damaged then replace.

Cheerio,
