Why did I upgrade the Fing Firmware?

My Prusa MK3S+ was working fine, but the firmware 3.11 was old and the printer kept asking me to upgrade every time I started a print.  I upgraded to 3.13 and I really wish I hadn't.

First a Thermal model calibration screen shows up that I was not prepared for.  Does the print be stay on or off for this calibration.  Should the printer enclosure door be open or closed?    Should the hot end be loaded or empty?  Why bother telling anyone?  I looked online and found nothing, so I first did the thermal model cal with the sheet on, then re-did it with the sheet off.  Both times completed, but I don't know if I did it right as I had the enclosure door open.

I decide to try a print.  Well a few seconds into the print, I get a crash detected message.  I stop print and start an XYZ calibration.  That fails at point 2.  WTF.  I bought this thing assembled to just make parts, not play with it constantly.  Now since I upgraded the firmware, its a paperweight.  Re-running XYZ cal now.  Hopefully it works.

Disappointed and Frustrated!

XYZ Calibration failed.  Bed calibration point not found?

I reverted to 3.11 and the Thermal model calibration is gone.  The XYZ calibration passed and I redid the 1st layer calibration.  I think it is fixed, but really am questioning why I tried to update in the first place.

Ugh

The firmware upgrade reminder is part of the Slicer g-code. You can delete it in your slicer settings. I haven't done yet but I might do so. That reminder ist annoying and with an offline printer like the Mk3s that is working fine as it is, I don't see the point in upgrading, especially with all the reports of people having problems with half backed thermal models or protections etc.

Mk3s MMU2s, Voron 0.1, Voron 2.4
