what is the cause of this.... stripping layers

Hello, I  have been 3d printing for a couple of years now.  I have a prusa i3 mk3s. To me  this is the cadillac of 3d printers. A problem has cropped up and cant seem to find out what is causing it or how to fix it. I have leveled the bed numerous times. I have also done the auto z level. when I print the first layer wizard program.. it comes out perfect. but when I print anything else I get the stripping. Any help would be appreciated

What filament is this?

Are you by any chance printing PLA using a first layer Z that was set with PETG?  As is the first layer looks a fraction too high, not enough squish, and the poor adhesion *might* indicate a slightly dirty build sheet...

There is no such thing as auto Z ...

I agree with Diem that it's potentially a live z issue.  I am seeing what looks like "wavy like water" stripes in your first layer.  That typically means Z is too low.  Oh, and there is no such thing as auto Z adjustment.  Not on a prusa at least.  You have to be ready to reset your Z each time you change plates, filament types, filament brands, and sometimes even for different colors.

The filament is petg by overture.  when I do a  first layer calibration it lays down perfectly no problems and it looks good like its suppose to.

when doing a live z.. I adjust upwards and you can still see the stripping or gaps . its not wavy...

Sorry for my misuse of the english language. I have tried the live z adjustment. I have brought it up and still have the stripping or gaps issue.

This was my original z height of -2.128

adjusting z height

adjusting the z height does not cure the stripping problem. My only guess would have to be the extrusion of the filament. maybe it is slipping and not filling the nozzle to put down a layer.

I would try thoroughly cleaning the print sheet, and, if you have not yet done so, configure 7x7 mesh bed levelling (LCD menu)

stripping on first layer

ok new update I watch the printer laying down the filament and it actually is not pushing filament out of the nozzle for the places it is skipping.. would this happen.. because of the new firmware upgrade?... seems like its coinciding with when I upgraded the firmware to now having problems...

This is very hard to spot, but if so, try a cold pull in case there is a partial blockage.

would this happen.. because of the new firmware upgrade?

No.  Many hundred users have also upgraded without reporting errors.
