What do I need to do with my printer setting If I want to switch back and forth between powder coated sheet and smooth sheet
Hi I have a powder coated sheet on my MK3 , I would like to get a smooth sheet as well and be able to switch them on a print by print basis depending on weather I want the texture on the bottom of my print or not.
Will I be able to just swap them or is there something I need to do in Prusa slicer or settings on the machine due to the slight difference of the thickness of the sheets if there is one.
Thanks

Bruce,
Firmware version 3.8.1 includes the ability to tell the machine which sheet is installed and allows you to save a unique live-Z adjustment value for each. This selection is found under Settings>HW Setup>Steel sheets in the machine's menu.
Unfortunately during initial setup of the machine the sheet selected by default for the first live-Z adjustment is the smooth sheet, however if you have already performed a successful live-Z adjustment with your textured (powder coated) sheet you can simply rename the sheet in the first location in the menu. As an alternative you can first select the textured sheet from the menu and then re-run the live-Z adjustment by selecting Calibration>First layer calibration from the menu.
Once the unique live-Z setting is stored for each sheet you need only select the appropriate sheet before initiating your print. Use caution though to ensure the correct selection as the differing thickness of the smooth and textured sheets (not to mention potential 3rd party sheets) may lead to contact of the nozzle with the sheet if the selection is wrong.
Happy printing,
Steve

@steve_g
Thanks for that info Steve, I'm going to order a smooth sheet, update my firmware and then try to set that up as you describe.
One question, is this:
"Once the unique live-Z setting is stored for each sheet you need only select the appropriate sheet before initiating your print"
done at the lcd display on the machine or in Prusa slicer?
Thanks

@bruce-h7
It's a neat time saving feature that I just discovered too. It's selected on the printers lcd display.

New versions of the firmware will display the sheet name at the time of printing. It will be a good reminder.
