Were to buy new thermostat for hotend in US?
I want to make sure I get the right part but shipping from prusa is $20. Thanks for any help
Re: Were to buy new thermostat for hotend in US?
Hi Lucas, I believe Filastruder may be able to help
the standard thermistor has a plug and socket just by the hot end, which Prusa found to be unreliable.
so prusa had the thermistor soldered directly to the extended leads...
You may have to do this yourself if you buy from filastruder... the thermistor is the same for Your V6 hot end as the Volcano hot end. consider getting two thermistors, so you have one in stock!
use heatshrink tube to insulate the joints

The Filastruder one is just the thermistor with a short cable and a plug. You would need to order their thermistor cable as well and check that the ends are compatible.
Matterhackers is also an E3D reseller in the US and ships the thermistor complete with the extension cable to plug directly into the Einsy board. $9 free shipping.

Note, while the Prusa connector is keyed so it only plugs in one way, the replacement is not. It is flat. That being said, it does not matter which way you plug it in as thermistors are not +/- sensitive.

Re: Were to buy new thermostat for hotend in US?
one more question. I have a Hot end clone I got from amazon for $15 couple months back. Can I take the themostat of that and intall in the MK3?
Re: Were to buy new thermostat for hotend in US?
Only if it is a Semitec 104GT in cartridge format.
Otherwise, you would have to start making changes to firmware and/or hardware

Most of the Amazon clones use an NTC 3950 100K thermistor. Check the order page. They are usually good about pointing this out. Here is one excerpt from a $12 clone:
Specification:
Type: V6 J-head, can be used either as bowden or direct feed style
Thermistor: NTC 3950 100K (Marlin users should use Table 11 to define temp sensor)
For Marlin firmware, under THERMAL SETTINGS -> #define TEMP_SENSOR_X (X being your extruder #) you should use # 11: 100k beta 3950 1% thermistor (4.7k pullup)
Which means you would have to edit, recompile and flash new firmware.
