USB Connection to printer

All

I noticed that USB connection to the printer is no longer supported in the new Prusa Slicer software

is this correct or have  I missed something?

Andrew

RE: USB Connection to printer

Hi Andrew,

have you tried Disabling the internal Raspberry pi, port via the LCD panel, then testing again?

RE: USB Connection to printer

That's right it was removed.  It was in the release notes over on Github.  The logic is that the slicer slices and that specific software to send gcode to the printer is better.  As to if Prusa is developing a replacement or if they think the other existing software options are good enough then your guess is as good as anyone else's.

https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/releases/tag/version_1.42.0-alpha1

contains this paragraph -

  • Online printing over serial line aka the "Controller" was dropped for now. We are not sure yet whether we will integrate it into Slic3r again, or whether we will create a separate application for printer and printer queue control, or whether we will drop the serial line printing for good, as there are other applications that serve the same purpose. Please let us know what you think.
