Thermistor Error

I just got time to test my pre-built i3 mk3 and it is giving me a hotend thermistor error during the wizard. I checked wiring at the box, and at the hotend. everything looks OK, I didn't take the hotend apart.

Re: Thermistor Error

visually check that the thermistors are installed in the correct places. if not, correct the placement.

do the heat bed and hot end temperatures match before you try heating the printer?

are they showing more that 15 centigrade? below 15 centigrade, the printer shoud refuse to heat! (fire protection feature!)

if your heatbed thermistor is showing say 20 centigrade, and your hot end thermistor is showing say 11 centigrade, it is probable that the hot end thermistor is open circuit, or plugged into the wrong socket (this condition should cause a 'Mintemp' error)

If this is the case, you could try swapping the thermistor connections on the einsy. if the hot end thermistor reads low on both thermistor inputs, the thermistor is suspect, make sure the metal connector elements are properly inserted in the plastic housing, and try again. if this still fails... your thermistor needs replacing.

if the low reading remains on the hot end display, you may be using the wrong socket, still, or the einsy socket may be faulty...

If both temperatures are about the same, try heating them with a hair dried on hot... you should see the temperature reading rise, if this is the case, try preheat pla, on the lcd menu, and watch for the hotend temperature to start rising.
on my printer the hot end temperature raised 20degrees (18, to 38C) in about 5 seconds after starting to preheat for PLA.

if the hot end temperature is not reporting changes, but the hot end, is getting hotter. turn the printer off, and investigate further...do not let the extruder heat up uncontrolled for more than say 10 seconds

hope this helps,

regards Joan

Re: Thermistor Error

I'm sorry I didn't see the reply.

The issue was the room we were printing in was too cold.
