thermal error

The display reads "paused thermal error" .  It prints for a while and then gives the error.

I have updated to the latest firmware and done the calibration.  How can I troubleshoot this.  Thanks for your help.

Is the printer stock, did it do this before firmware upgrade, to confirm your on firmware 3.13

Please help me out by downloading a model it's free and easy but really helps me out https://www.printables.com/@Hello_474427/models

I am on 3.13.1.  It did not do this before the upgrade but I have printed a lot, printing a transmission, all of the gears.  I have done nothing to the printer other than build it from the kit.

Ok well it could be a thermistor on the way out I'd contact support via live chat to talk you through checking it

RE: thermal error

Have you done PID autotuning and the thermal calibration as well?

btw: The latest firmware 3.13.2 (see prusa3d.com/downloads) fixes a few bugs.

3.13.1 and 3.13.2 has no difference for stock printers for thermal error but worth a try

This is a picture of calibration. Done the firmware update to .2

To eliminate the string I tried 210 degrees but it will go back to 215. Trying to print a pressure plate and the boundary circle is printed over by the boundary of the plate. The test print at the beginning looks like coins stacked on each other in a row

what should I do next

You need to lower the Z height.

I'm not an expert. Ma parlo anche italiano 😉

RE: thermal error

For PLA I would prefer the satin or the foiled smooth sheet if available. On the Textured one has to squish the filament further down than on the other plates. If it sticks only to the "peeks" of the texture the area is simply too small for enough adhesion, especially with PLA. Apart from Prusa's online help, there are many posts here dealing with the first layer and live-z.

RE:

Do you realize that all sheets have a unique (different Z height) ? Maybe you are using your Z height for your smooth sheet.. But for textured, (and you likely should not use textured if you are using PLA) you need to redo the Z calibration. You are miles too high. If you want to use textured with PLA, coat lightly with glue stick or another adhesive.

RE: thermal error

I have adjusted the Z to -0.400 and the prints as the picture shows.  As I know very little about adjusting the printer I am wondering if the temperature in the calibrate mode went to 250 degrees if that might have caused problems with the filament in the heater.  I have no clue on what to do as the instructions says a - 0.4 is a high value and i am afraid i will mess something up.  Should i start another topic.

RE: thermal error

As mentioned previously, you are way too high, adjust Z a lot lower.

RE: thermal error

You need to do some research to get a proper first layer.. First adjust the PINDA probe properly .. so you can search the forums or the Prusa knowledgeable on how to properly adjust the PINDA for your printer. Then go thru the forum and learn all about setting the Z height properly. There are lots of pictures and info. "Life Z my way" is one post that gets you to print one layer squares and adjust the Z height as it printer.. the photos will teach you what a proper first layer should look like.. Your problem can't be solved by a quick answer.
