RE: Thermal anomaly

How did it work out? I just ordered a new thermistor for my hot end, hoping this'll solve the problem with the new firmware. But I'm interested if this worked for you?

Before you do that got to firmware 3.11 and see if it works

Please help me out by downloading a model it's free and easy but really helps me out https://www.printables.com/@Hello_474427/models

RE: Thermal anomaly

Just wanted to add my 2c. In my case, a fully stock MK3 (vertical print fan) was experiencing this issue due to the printer being in a cold environment (~12c) i placed an enclosure around it to stabelise its temperature and the issue seems to be resolved.

RE: Thermal anomaly

I have exactly the same problem. Machine is all stock. Upgraded the firmware and now nothing but "THERMAL ANOMALY".

Will try factory reset.  But definitely some problem caused by firmware???

It looks like I am not the only one having these same Thermal issues on my stock MK3S+ either.  I have attempted several recalibration and replaced parts that test good to try and solve this.  No luck.  I am not even able to start a print now since I receive the message during bed calibration.  If I turn off bed cal. I get the error during the first layer.

RE: Thermal anomaly

The downgrade to 3.11 did work for me. But I also figured out I did have a defect in the thermistor cable ( I soldered it and works for now, but I do have a backup one) Hope it will also be a simple fix for more people here!

If prusa did an option in the lcd menu to turn it off I reckon alot more people would be happy

RE: Thermal anomaly

I have (for the moment) solved my Thermal Anomaly.  Opened my electrical box and systematically removed and replaced again, all the pull out plugs and terminals. Including the screw in terminals.  I have returned to 3.12.2. Now believe the new firmware is possibly more sensitised to these good/bad connections than previously. I have spent many frustrating days trying to sort this problem. So hope this approach may help others.

Now to solve the X axis calibration???

RE: Thermal anomaly

After reseating all of the connectors, erasing all setting from the LCD factory reset, and trying to get the first layer calibration done, the 5th probe point gave the error once again.  I went ahead and downgraded all the way back to the stable 3.9 releases since they seemed to work the best on my machine from before.  So far, all calibrations to include PID are successful and the first layer printed without a problem.  I have my first print running now on this firmware without Thermal Anomalies and a steady temperature.

RE: Thermal anomaly

I found this error in 3.12. I tired the new firmware 3.13. It still gave me some sort of thermal error. I had to jump back down to firmware 3.11 to avoid this issue.

RE: Thermal anomaly

WOW-I guess it good to know that I am not toe only person having this problem. My printer (Kit MK3S+) has been working great for the 2 years I have had it. 2 months ago I went on vacation and un plugged the printer. When I came back and fired it up I started getting the Thermal Anomaly and Thermal Error problems. Have recalibrated and even did the factory reset and still getting the same errors. I think I will try replacing the thermistor to see what happens. Open to all suggestions.

RE: Thermal anomaly

Check your thermistor and heater are working. it may be the thermal modelling is doing it's job and recognising a fault that the old firmware couldn't.

RE: Thermal anomaly

Digging up an old post, I know. For anyone having this problem currently, downgrade to 3.11. I did and have had nothing but success for at least 100 hours of print time. Beautfiul, flawless prints. Before that, I was getting random thermal anomalys like crazy. It was extremely frustrating.

I also have a fairly new MK3S+ that was working great until the update. I tried downgrading and changing setting and upgrading to 3.13 again. No luck and it's very annoying. The loud beeping is like nails on chalkboard. Has Prusa Support given any update?

RE: Thermal anomaly

This is what Prusa told me about the software after I had a overheated head melt my printer head.  The thermal model is designed to detect an error in the heating curve to help prevent overheating issues.  In my case, the display was showing the correct temperature but the actual temperature was about 50 degrees higher.  New hot end under warranty.

RE: Thermal anomaly

- Did you try the latest FW 3.13.0 ?

They worked since 3.12 to integrate the support for REVO nozzle, so probably some mess happened, that should be solved on the 3.13.0.

You can find here: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/releases

RE: Thermal anomaly

I updated to 3.13.0, and am getting the "Thermal Anomaly" problem.

This is a stock MK3s with a genuine prusa hotend (recently replaced).

In an enclosure.

Ran temperature calibration a number of times. Using the official "instructions"

Print OFTEN stops early during Z level calibration with THERMAL ANOMALY.

But when it DOES happen to start the print, it completes it, but with THERMAL ANOMALY/ERROR on the LCD.

When it is printing, the temperature curve history reported by Octoprint has the temp bouncing around the target temperature by about +/- 5 degrees.

Previous firmware had a smooth temperature curve.

WHAT THE HECK guys?????

Looks like I am downgrading the firmware.

RE: Thermal anomaly

Hi Guys!

A bit of a noob here, so please bear with me. I bought a second hand Prusa i3 MK3 second hand on the norwegian version of craig's list.

When it arrived I got the error message "Thermal Anomaly" on the display. From what I understood on the internet this was due to a thermistor. I ordered parts and tried swapping both the heatbed and the hotend thermistor, but the error message persisted. Now I really have no clue what this could be. The seller of course claims that it was working when he sent it, but I'm not so sure.

Any ideas?
