Swapping nozzle- 285C with PLA?
Swapping nozzles on my Printrbots was pretty easy. I only ran ABS, PETG and Nylon through it, and it only went to 250C anyways. It had external threads that were easy to check for debris.
I built my Mk3 and I'm going to change the nozzle to Olufosn because I want to run some fiber filled. I've been running the PLA that came with the printer. Is it right to heat the hot end to 285C to swap nozzles? Even with PLA in there? That will kill that PLA. Do you wait for all the filament/melt-mass to fall out before putting the new nozzle on?
With PLA, heat to 215, take the nozzle off and let the PLA ooze out, run it to 285 and replace the nozzle?
Run some PETG to purge the PLA and be better able to withstand 285?
I'm guessing that it is pretty easy since there aren't a lot of threads on this. The 285 and PLA is what is making me wonder.

It's a straightforward process on the Prusa printers as well, no worries.

Be sure to do some research before buying the Ruby. You certainly don't need one to print fiber or any other filled PLA. There have been some enlightening threads here.

Heat up to PLA temps and unload the PLA before heating it the rest of the way up. That will remove most of the PLA. I like to push some cleaning filament through each nozzle before removal to purge any leftover material right after I heat it up to the temp to remove the nozzle. Any leftover PLA or other material won't be in there long.

Thanks. Already had a Ruby slipper, so I went with that. The newer engineered metal ones look interesting and more economical.
Nozzles clog, that's what they do... I'm sure I'll have another chance at replacing it later.
