Stuck on 'Original Prusa i3 Prusa Research' screen on reset

I was trying to update the firmware from 3.8.1 to RC 3.9.0 so I could use the pause print feature in Prusa Slicer correctly.   While updating the firmware it apparently had an issue as it ran for over 20 minutes and never completed.   When I tried to reset it would boot up to the Original Prusa i3 Prusa Research screen but just sit there.    I tried the hard reset but never get the beep while holding down the control knob.   In fact it doesnt even reset when pressing the reset button any longer.  All that happens when I press the reset buttons are the extruder fan and print fan stop spinning.

Is there any way to complete a factory reset with out using the reset buttons or control buttons?

Thanks in advance.

Ok. Got it working. Here is what I did but I am not sure exactly which step fixed it.

  • Unplugged the printer and left it that way for at least an hour
  • Uninstalled/reinstalled  PrusaSlicer and drivers.
  • When I plugged in the printer into the computer via the USB is came back as a unrecognizable device and unresponsive
    • Disabled the USB via Device Manager.  Re-enabled and power cycled printer while the printer remained plugged in.

Computer recognized the device and assigned a COM port in which I was able to re-flash the firmware.

Try flashing it again. Sounds like the bootloader is intact, so you should be able to get it to re-load the main firmware without issue.

Thanks for thr reply. I have tried reflashing but when I plug it on via USB it is not recognizable. I usually use the Prusaslicer to update the firmware and when I can I have no option for com ports.

Is there another way I can try?
