Stringing Issues - Old vs New Prusa

Hello all,

I just recently installed my 3rd printer kit. The first 2 are nearly 2 years old MK3S printers. The new one is MK3S+

When I print out with the same settings (same gcode) on 3 printers, I get almost no stringing on the new one, but the other 2 are very stringy that I need to blow

By the way, I'm using the same filament roll on all 3 to be sure filament difference is not the issue.

Apart from the slicer settings, what affects stringing hardware-wise? (for the other 2 printers, I've bought and replaced the nozzles a month ago, and I do set the temp to 285 in between filament changes and use an acupuncture needle to prevent clogging - so nozzle clog shouldn't be an issue)

For example, the new one has Misumi bearings - pre-lubricated, the old ones have Prusa bearings. The differences like these have an effect on the stringing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Photo

I'm attaching a photo, these are roughly 0,75 inch diameter pieces, both printed with 0.25 nozzle. Right is printed with new Prusa, left is with the old one.

These things are hard to guess ... bearings sure have no influence on stringing, though. Could be because different firmware version is used... or hotend thermistor lost it's precision over the time.. maybe extruder got worn out over the time (try extruder calibration)... etc.

LA is different

Assuming you have  not been keeping the firmware synced .. linear advance is different on your MK3S.  So the same Gcode will produce different results, LA wise (linear advance feature).  LA impacts how retractions are done.  So that could be your difference if the firmware level on your printers is different.  The new printer also cools slightly differently than the old ones but the extruder changes are not seen as significant to print quality.

Firmware same

Thank you for your answers. But the firmware on all printers is the same (3.10.0-4481) So I believe Linear Advance should not be an issue then. The question is upgrading the others to MK3S+ would change anything? It is related to cooling/heating I believe and does the upgrade improve anything regarding that?
