Small layer shifts and degrading print quality

Hi,

i'm having trouble with bad print quality and small layer shifting on my MK3/S.  The problem seems to be re-occuring. Some prints are worse than others. I typically use the standard speed settings for the prusa MK3/S. I also ni

I have tried the following (which did improve quality of the print somewhat):

  • Cleaning and re-greasing of smooth roods.
  • Checking belt tension -> within ok ranges for belt status
  • Cheking tightness of heatnozzle and extruder
  • Cleaning of extrudernozzle

Any suggestions of more things I can try out?

RE: Small layer shifts and degrading print quality

I would check the tightness of all the fasteners/ screws and nuts throughout the entire carriage, I typically do this after ever several hundred hours of printing as a general maintenance even the U-bolts that support the Lm8uu bearings, they can get loose, but take care tightening them, remember when you assembled the machine it required care not to over tighten them.

If you take this step remember to re calibrate the printer after.
