Slic3r Prusa Edition generates supports outside of build volume

Trying to print a part that's basically the size of the build plate, but which does fit, and want a little support for some small overhangs near the edge. When I generate supports, it builds a base layer that sticks out farther than the build volume, but if I manually fit a support enforcer far enough from the edge that it doesn't, these outer overhangs don't get supported. Is there any way to fix this? Do I just print and let the printer deal with the areas outside of the build volume?

This is with just regular support auto-generation turned on. Features like the overhangs on the left side get properly supported, but then the base layer (which is larger than the part) sticks outside of the build volume.

Also worth mentioning that it's really annoying not being able to save support enforcer/blocker geometry with the model (they get combined and impossible to separate) or adjust them on the fly (resizing them is tedious and time consuming, even when you're just redoing the same support block for the model).

if you save a 3mf (I think) it should save everything.

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

That's a useful tip, still tedious to set them up, but not it only needs to be done loading in a new model, instead of just changing slicing or filament settings.

I worked out a position where I could get supports overhanging the bed only on one side, and only the base layer, and gave that a shot. Works fine, but the part ended up missing some supports on the outside, so I've had to break it into pieces to print.

Still, I think auto-generation of support material outside of the build volume should be considered a bug with the slicer. Since support blockers only block model geometry from generating supports, not blocking the supports themselves, there's no way to modify the support base width, even when part of a large block of support which would adhere well enough. An automatic cut off of support material generated outside the volume should be added, and it would be great if we had control over the sort of, support brim, which is generated under the vertical support material - at the very least being able to block it off with something if necessary.

How to get ride of the Pesky 1 later height "supports" (they are not supporting anything, what are their purposes?):

1. Insert/create cuboid/s (3D rectangle), make it 1 layer height.
2. Put the cuboid right under where the REAL supports are generated (ignore the 1 layer supports).

Then the pesky 1 layer height supports won't be generated.
