Slic3r 1.42 Beta Flashes GUI when moving object

Slic3r up to 1.41 work fine on my setup.. But whilst testing the RC and Beta versions of 1.42 I have an annoying 'flash' that happens every time I move an object.

The effect can be seen here

Its not the end of the world, but its annoying, as whilst my PC isnt' particularly powerful and my graphics card is low end.. I don't have any problems with ANY other software

i have tried downgrading to OpenGL 1.1 in the settings and that made the GUI more like 1.41, but the flashing was still there.

Its not actually flashing.. I appears that the view switches to "layer" briefly every time you move.. I wonder if this happens to everyone, but if their PC is more powerful it might happen so quick, you can't see it.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Jon

Same in Beta 2... Is no-one else seeing this?

Its clearly not a random "flash", the GUI switches over to layer view briefly every time you move an object.. So its either a bug or a quirk. Just odd that i am the only one seeing this.

I am running Win 10 Pro version1809 and I don't have the flash with the Beta 1 release.

It is very odd.. I tested at work and don't see this either.. But thats Windows 10 and on really fast hardware.. My PC is Win7 a bit of a dinosaur, but that said, its still quite capable....

It is a odd problem give you seem to be the only one having it.

Just out of curiosity, have you checked to make sure your video driver is up-to-date? I have fixed a couple of problems in the past with a video driver updates.

Also, I thnk I recall an item in the release notes for Beta 2 that there was a switch to disable OpenGL becasue of a bug. I wonder if older versions of windows might be where that bug exists?

BTW, I have installed the new beta and I am not getting flashing with it either.

Tried switching to OpenGL 1.1 (Legacy) rendering and it was the same... And my video drivers are up to date..

But after doing these tests at the beginning where I believed I was having some kind of video problem, I realised that it wasn't that the screen was 'flashing'. Slic3r actually switches to the layer view briefly after every move, which is why I get the brief "flash". This has to be something in the code, rather than a driver issue..

I would quite like to test this on my Work laptop which is also Windows 7 and of similar performance.. But for some reason the Alpha and Beta version of 1.42 report a "false positive" in our Virus checker which can't be disabled.. So whilst I can run 1.41 (Which does not have this problem) I can't run any version of 1.42.

I wonder if this is a Windows 7 thing?

I am tempted to raise a ticket on Github just to log this...

Found a Win7 PC in work which didn't report a Virus on the Beta.. And its fine.. So this is just my PC.

I have a feeling I read that in 1.42 it 'slices' after every move/add or change.. And the fact that I briefly see the layer move makes me think that its related to this

But quite why its in the "background" for everyone else, and comes to the foreground for me, is a mystery.

I think I might raise a ticket to see if any of the devs are willing to take a look.
