Shutting off the printer

Hi,

This feels like a really silly and basic question, but I'll ask it anyway.  I just finished putting together my first printer, and I'm not sure what the correct way to shut it down is.  Let's say I just finished a print, and need to leave or I want to go to bed, whatever.  Is there a way to tell the printer to finish cooling down and then shut itself off?  Can I just turn off the power supply while it is still at full temperature without hurting anything?  Do I need to wait until it cools, or at least until the fans stop spinning, before turning it off?  Or should I just leave it on?

Do you always shut down the printer after your final print for a session?  If not, is there any concern about leaving the LCD panel on indefinitely?

Thanks!

RE: Shutting off the printer

After a print, you need to let de 3d printer cool down, and fan must be running.

Plastic parts can warp if you shut down with (very) hot extruder.

Watch the screen there you can see the temps, and wait till its cools down.

RE: Shutting off the printer

Once the hot end fan is off (it shuts off when the extruder has cooled down to about 50c?) the printer is mostly harmless.  That said, I routinely power off  my MK3 printer shortly after printing (minutes, not seconds).  So far, nothing has melted down.
