Short print started overnight, reawaken to "calibrating Z"?
After updating to 3.12.2 on my Mk3S+ (upgraded from the original Mk3), I was able to do one or two successful prints without issue. I started one more quick print from the SD card that should've lasted only 10 minutes to run as I got ready for bed. When I went to check on it the next morning, I was surprised to find the printer still busy moving, the screen indicated it was "Calibrating Z", and the Z-axis was up near the top of its limit (and heading upwards until I canceled the print), and the print bed was empty.
What would cause this? Is it a normal behavior in response to (for example) repeated collisions? I'm surprised there's no timeout for repeated failed attempts, rather than grinding away at the motors and rods all night attempting to calibrate some issue perpetually.
I canceled the print, and manually ran a calibrate XYZ in case that resolved any issues. So far the reattempt at the print seems to be going fine, but I'm curious as to what caused that issue.

Strange are you using super pinda or normal

Very strange. If the pinda fails, shouldn't it rather crash into the bed then going upwards? Or would that have happened and as response the printer started therefore a Z-calibration which then also failed to trigger? I am surprised as well that there does not seem to be a time-out to whatever the printer was trying to do.
In generall though I would recommend not to start a print, leave and only come back when it is supposedly finished. I always check at least in beginning during the first layer being laid down. Doesn't take long and prevents a number of potential errors escalating unchecked, first and foremost the very nasty blob of doom.

Thanks for the responses. As far as I recall, I have the normal PINDA, not the SuperPINDA upgrade.
The PINDA does seem to have been working fine since the incident (though I've mostly not been able to get first layer prints enough for the prints I'm trying to do, my filament on hand is too damp).
And yeah, agreed, I generally try to check in on the print at least through the first layer, though sometimes I forget or get distracted, and in this case the print was so trivial I expected there wouldn't be much chance for anything to fail anyway.

Hold the smooth rod about 4 cm before the pinda senses the bed do when it comes down it hits your finger then it should come up with calibrating z please video that and like @thejiral said is crash detection on or off
