Self-test failure
Hi,
I would like to request some help chasing a Gremlin. The printer starting complaining about not being calibrated. It was making perfect prints, so I ignored the message. When it boots up now, it gives the same message but stops. When I try and calibrate it, I can not finish the calibration before one of the steps fails. The failure occurs at random steps in the calibration. Same with the self test. It can not complete the self-test without a random failure. I did a simple test using belt calibration. I ran it 10 times. It passed 7 times and failed 3 times. The pulleys are tight, the bed moves freely, and there are no obstructions on either axis. There are no obviously bad cables or connections. Updating the firmware did not make a difference. I unplugged and reinstalled the connectors in the box, but I am getting the same problems. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Self-test failure
Any detailed error-message? and what calibrations? You mention self-test and belt calibration.
What about the Z-calibration (not the XYZ)?
We will do what we have always done. We will find hope in the impossible.
RE: Self-test failure
I have tried the self-test 50 times. It always fails in a different test. I just ran the Z-calibration test. It passed 10 out of 10 times.
RE: Self-test failure
Here is some new data. The problem seems to consistently be with the hot-end. When I do the self-test, it successfully passes the axis checks and the bed temp. As soon as it starts the hot-end test, it displays a message that the printer has not been calibrated and kicks me over to the set-up wizard. Same thing happens when I try and pre-heat the nozzle. Any thoughts?
