RE: Self Test Error - Please check axis length Y
@jwvanderbeck, you won't see an obstruction, it is just the lack of lubrication causing the sensors to malfunction. I used the lube that came with the kit, but any white grease should do it (google 3D printer lubricant). I applied a bit to a paper towel and ran it along the two smooth metal rods under the print bed. Then I manually slid the print bed back and forth and repeated until it all moved nicely.
RE: Self Test Error - Please check axis length Y
Y axis error after unit was sitting a long time and I did a fw uppdate.
Clean and grease the rails fixed it.
RE: Self Test Error - Please check axis length Y
I had the same problem with my MK3S after lots of years of luckily printing - the print failed with shifting in x-direction and the calibration said it is related the "y axis length". To sum up, here are steps to solve the issue:
- check the attachment strength of the bearings: not to soft (no movement) and not to tight (damages the bearings)
- move the print bed: the should be not to much resistance (if so, then lube)
- check belt tension
- check attachment of pulley gear with the motor
- check for interposition of filament at the gear
- try "Auto Home"
- problems with the motor?
In my case it was lack of lube/oil, so I used bike kettle lube - and it worked immediately. Looks like maintenance is important 🙂 Hope it helps you guys. Happy printing.
