Rods and bearings problems
I assembeld my MK3s about 2 months ago at first my X axis Bearing worked into the Smooth rod
3 days after the replacement arrived my Y Axis Bearing did the same
1 Hour after i ordered the the next replacement i found this... X Axis again is there a Quality problem with the smooth rods and bearings ? i cant imagine an mistake thats could lead to that
RE: Rods and bearings problems
Did you lubricate the linear bearings on assembly, or afterwards?

RE: Rods and bearings problems
i followed the assembly manual and lubricated first time after 1-2 weeks
RE: Rods and bearings problems
Lubrication is something you do prior to assembly. The lubricant has to go inside the bearing.
Assembly problems can also crush the bearings into the rods - especially the Y axis U-Bolts of Death.
Don't secure them too tightly.
RE: Rods and bearings problems
That means to me that the assembly manual is useless because there was noted the bearings are lubricated and need no further lubrication in the beginning. but the new x axis i pressed the lube all the way thru the Bearings with an adapter before assembly they lastet 3 days

Dominik,
If I had the power, that would be the first thing I would change...
when I got My Mk1 about five years ago, I instinctively reached for the Lithium grease... and I have greased or oiled, every set of linear bearings since then!
