Random MINTEMP errors
I've contacted Prusa support about this, but I thought I would post here in case someone has a solution.
My MK3S is getting random MINTEMP errors. I'm not entirely sure of the cause. I bought the printer in October (preassembled) and have about 12 days worth of prints done before the issue began to occur. The annoying part is that these errors aren't happening regularly. I can print hours and hours at a time, and then an hour after a new print the issue will happen. I've gone a couple days without the error, but I've had almost 10 of them come up this week alone. I can't replicate the error regularly, even with the same gcode.
I've posted on other forums. Here are some things I've tried to isolate the issue:
- Wiggle the cables on the extruder and bed to try to get the temperatures to zero out. No matter how hard I wiggle, the temperatures stay the same. I've done this at room temperature and with the printer preheated.
- Open up the electronics, and measure the thermistor with a multimeter at room temperature. Measurements were consistent with Prusa's numbers on the troubleshooting page.
- Pull and unplug the cables, just to make sure they're seated correctly.
- Add a silicone sock to the extruder
- Upgrade and downgrade firmwares on both the printer and Octoprint
- Take Octoprint out altogether and just use an SD card
- Do PID calibrations of the extruder (with and without the silicone sock) and bed
- Verify that the room itself isn't too cold
The errors are still occuring despite these checks. I'm like 99% it's the thermistor. I have not done any hardware modifications (except change a cover on the extruder to fit a tube for the Palette 2). Anyone have any other ideas?

Edit: Also, on the printer, it will say MINTEMP fixed, please restart. I don't know if that's of any help, but it's there if you need it.

Thermistor should have 100k. This error has been discussed many times in the forum. In more than 90 percent of all cases it was the thermistor, a broken or loose wire.

My apologies for bringing up this old thread.
I took my printer to a local store to have the thermistor changed (which they did). I'm still getting these errors. Is there something other than the thermistor that could be causing these mintemp errors?

Try full factory reset and downgrade firmware to 3.7.1

I had once a Part causing that by it's form, at a point the angle of the surface re-directed the cold air from the cooling fan directly to the nozzle and caused a temperature drop. Rotate the Part helped.

could it be really cold in your print room?
mintemp errors occur when the thermistor reports temperatures below 15 centigrade... this happens in the thermistor fails, or the wire breaks, or if it actually gets really cold...
