random mid print filament change (MK3S+)

Hello,

I just got my first Prusa printer kit done, so I am new to the community, nice to meet you!

After some perfectly fine test prints, I was trying a larger print (4 hours). Randomly it started asking me to change the filament twice. The second time, it did not even start where it finished and started printing in the air, so I had to cancel the print.

I googled a bit and there seemed to be an issue two years ago with the filament sensor. However I have the MK3S+, as far as I can tell, this was an issue with an old filament sensor that is not used in the MK3S+. I've turned off the sensor for now, but that seems like a work-around. Does anybody have any tips? Thank you!

Update, it also does it when the filament sensor is turned off. I'm also not so sure anymore if it is really random. I think it asked for the filament change at the same moment as the last print. Could it be in the G-code?

It could be in the gcode you generated yes.  Look for M600 code in there.

Thank you Neophyl!

Well it is definitely in the g-code three times, excluding the one at the end that seems to be commented out. Remains the question, why? I thought I was using the standard settings for PLA in PrusaSlicer. What setting could cause this?

Depends on what you did in Slicer. If you for example load a 3mf file you might import somebody's color change settings... check the layer slider for  changes.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Find out why this is pinned in the general section!

@bluefoam

You could zip up the .3mf file and upload it here, so folks can inspect it.

Sometimes, when you scroll through the sliced view, it's easy to accidentally click on the vertical scroll bar and add a stop. Has happened to me.

@fuchsr

That is definitely what happened. Completely my own fault. However, I have to say, it is really easy to do by accident.

Thanks all for helping out.
